The 50^th edition of Filo is still some months ahead: the exhibition is scheduled for the 26^th and 27^th of September 2018 at Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan.

Euratex, the the European Apparel and Textile Confederation, launches a new strategy to better represent and strengthen the voice of the European textile and apparel industry this sector within communitarian institutions and partner organisations around the globe.

Here the schedule of the meetings: Monday the 18^th of June 2018 in Biella (Unione Industriale Biellese); Tuesday the 19^th of June 2018 in Milan (Palazzo delle Stelline) and Thursday the 21^st of June 2018 in Prato (Chamber of Commerce).

Before starting with the organisation of the 50^th Filo edition, there are still space for some reflections on the strengths highlighted during the 49^th edition of Filo, held in February at Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan.

Sustainability, Technology, Design, Internet of Things: these are the keywords of the First Level University Master “Fiber Design and Textil Processes”, conceived by Città Studi and Poli.Design, aiming at creating new textile professional figures, able to match in a cross-cutting way innovative competences and design. The master will start in October 2018, totally in English version.

Marino Vago is the new president of Sistema Moda Italia, who has been elected unanimously by associates’ assembly. He succeeds Claudio Marenzi, who is now the president of Confindustria Moda, comprising Smi also as a member. In the team of the new president, who will be in office until 2021, there are also Sergio Tamborini (Marzotto), for industrial policy; Andrea Taborelli (Tessitura serica A.M. Taborelli) for treasurer’s office, traceability and supply chain; Ercole Botto Poala (Successori Reda) for exhibitions; Roberto Grassi (Alfredo Grassi) for trade sections and Carlo Palmieri (Pianoforte Holding) for the South.

The 49^th edition of Filo, the international yarns and fibres” exhibition, ended positively. During the two days of the fair, the spotlight shone on the excellent yarns offered by the exhibitors, and highly appreciated by the qualified buyers – Italian and foreign – who visited the show.

At the end of the 49th edition of Filo we collected some exhibitors’ initial thoughts on the fair. All confirmed their satisfaction with the work accomplished during the two days of the fair.

During the second part of the conference ‘The thread of globalisation’, space was given to figures with Cecilia Gilodi from Confindustria Moda, to more aesthetic and stylistic aspects with Gianni Bologna, responsible for creativity and style of Filo, and to education with Matteo Ingaramo, professor at PoliDesign. The event ended with a brief round table among PierFrancesco Corcione (director of Unione Industriale Biellese), Alessandro Zucchi (president of Acimit), Mauro Chezzi (vice-director of Smi-Sistema Moda Italia) and Marinella Loddo (director of Milan ITA Agency).
