COLLAGES
Creative Dialogues created by Gianni Bologna
Filo 63rd edition
INTRODUCTION
Collage is one of the most unlimited and used art forms, also employed by amateurs.
This time, FILO wants to give some hints to facilitate a more careful use of this creative freedom which, by generally judging the evolution of taste, it seems to be limitless not just in relation to outfit, if we consider the style brought in the streets.
This is related to shapes’ creation, colours’ selection, and contents.
Free shapes of this style that maybe are often overused by end-users or end-performers, recalling a self-referential artistic creation of their personal image and of what surrounds them or even us.
MILITARY CHARME
We are inspired by a military style that here becomes a mix of shapes and military styles coming from different countries and ages.
Inspiration’s freedom led us to envisage a kind of aesthetics free from strict restraining limits, both for shapes, materials and colours too, but that from various military styles it gets the harmony resulting from these elements.
A military style which is a bit dreamlike and free from rigidity.
BIO POP
It is ideological and pervasive in industrial production, maybe more theoretically than practically, but it is strongly present not just in textile industry, which is hard to disregard.
We have decided to follow a way specifically dedicated to simpler and more basic materials and to linear, almost understated decorations, in shapes and in colours too.
Materials are obviously based on natural fibres, and they are often inspired by very traditional images.
VANITY
A thought to femininity and to fine and soft charm distinguishing those fabrics characterised by basic and traditional image, but with some hints at style and seductive manmade contents.
Decorations have always been important for this textile branch as well as elaborations of garments’ shapes; sometimes they are complex, sometimes linear, but they are never mutually in contradiction.
POSSIBLY
We are dealing with a possible but dangerous future for those who want to venture forecasts, between dream and reality.
We think about science fiction cinema for the shapes which are both linear and complex, taking it as a starting point for the materials in those less traditional in fabrics’ aspects in relation to brightness and texture, focused on a wide use of high-performing manmade ones.
