The 64th edition of Filo opens today

The 64th edition of Filo, the International Yarns and Fibres Exhibition, opens today at Fiera Milano Rho – Hall 14.
From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the first day and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the second day, here visitors and the press can discover the highest quality yarns, fibres, materials, dyes, finishing processes and techniques for top-of-the-range market.
Exhibitors are 109, 68 of which are Italians and 41 foreigners, coming from sixteen countries: Austria, China, Egypt, Finland, France, Japan, India, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, USA, Uzbekistan.

Filo64 takes place in a new venue: Fiera Milano Rho, the second largest exhibition centre in Europe, a cutting-edge exhibition site which attracts professionals from all over the world. Filo chose it as its new location based on functionality and efficiency’s criteria, to best meet the needs of both exhibitors and visitors.

Hall 14 at Fiera Milano Rho, Filo’s chosen venue, allows to set a more rational exhibition’s layout, encouraging buyers and textile professionals to visit the fair. From Filo64 entrance, visitors come into direct contact with exhibitors’ collections through the Trends Area and the Quick Delivery Area. A new feature awaits them exactly at the centre of the fair: the Accessories Area, where firms that offer services and assistance to textile companies exhibit. The Sustainability Area has also been completely redesigned and now incorporates the concept of ‘responsible innovation’: in collaboration with C.L.A.S.S., the space offers a selection of materials and traceability platforms, with effective examples of responsible innovation, such as linen from the Alliance for European Flax-Linen & Hemp, cupro from Bemberg™ by Asahi Kasei, SUPIMA® cotton and proposals from Haelixa. The space also features InsideOut Value System by C.L.A.S.S., for a communication of new generation. C.L.A.S.S. initiative aims at bringing to light the authentic and measurable values – visible and invisible, inside and out – that define a wardrobe that looks to the future.

The ideal cornerstone of the 64th edition of Filo is the large space dedicated to ‘Made in Filo’: it hosts the project launched by Filo last edition, which aroused great interest among professionals. It is a collection of fabrics made by Filo using yarns provided by exhibitors and processed by the best manufacturing techniques. Filo is the only international trade fair dealing with the development of its own collection.

Manufacturing and its capacity for renewal are at the forefront of the opening ceremony of Filo64, entitled ‘Innovation, Sustainability, Legality: the future of Made in Italy’, as well as among the booths. The ‘beating heart’ of the fair is, in fact, the yarns and materials shown at the fair: Filo64 is a showcase that highlights high quality materials and a wide variety of them, as well as their ability to meet the needs of a textile system in search of innovation. The stylistic and technical content of Filo exhibitors’ collections always match the highest standard, achieved by implementing manufacturing techniques that combine tradition and cutting-edge processes.

In order to strengthen its internationalisation process, during the 64th edition, Filo will host, as usual, a delegation of foreign buyers organised in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) including 40 professionals and journalists coming from Spain, France, Portugal, Hungary, Germany, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Finland, Switzerland, India, South Korea and China. Noteworthy, the presence of professionals associated to Texfor, the Spanish Textile Industry Confederation, which represents around 400 companies in the sector.
Internationalisation is also at the heart of the collaboration between Filo and Piedmont Region. Thanks to the activities of the Integrated ‘Textile’ Supply Chain Project (PIF) of Piedmont Region, financed by the ERDF 2021-2027 and implemented by Ceipiemonte – the Regional Agency for Internationalisation and Investment Attraction – a delegation of buyers from Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Portugal will participate in the 64th Filo edition.

Paolo Monfermoso, responsible of Filo, states: ‘At the opening of the 64th Filo edition, we firstly thank the companies that renew their trust in Filo every year: their presence and the ongoing dialogue distinguishing our relationship is an incentive for us to improve and work to offer new opportunities for growth. Opportunities for growth also mean seeking new markets, especially in difficult geopolitical times such as the present. For this reason, I would like to thank the Italian Trade Agency for its constant support in backing our fair and our initiatives, including its sponsorship of our “Made in Filo” project. I would also like to thank Piedmont Region and Ceipiemonte for their contribution in making Filo an increasingly important point of reference for foreign buyers. From the point of view of promoting the excellence of textile production on foreign markets, I would also like to highlight the synergy existing between Italian international trade fairs – the coincidence of our 64th edition with Lineapelle and Simac proves this – aiming at strengthening the supply chain.”

Mr. Monfermoso also adds: “There are several innovations at the 64th edition of Filo, from the choice to move the exhibition venue to Fiera Milano Rho to the creation of new areas that allow us to expand the range of materials and services to offer and explore topics such as sustainability and responsible innovation. We are working to make our fair increasingly attractive, being supported by the presence of strong companies and high-quality products, with a high level of style and innovation. Visitors will find here a lively and stimulating environment where they can discover the best of global textile production, do business and develop partnerships in a continuous dialogue “from producer to producer”. Good luck to everyone!”
