The 63rd edition of Filo opens today

The 63rd edition of Filo, the International Yarns and Fibres Exhibition, opens today at Allianz MiCo – viale Eginardo – Gate 3 – Milan.

From 9 am to 6 pm on the first day and from 9 am to 5 pm on the second day, buyers, visitors, and the press can discover and first-hand experience the top-quality yarns, fibres, materials, dyes, finishing treatments and processing stages intended for the top-of-the-range segment.

Filo opens its doors in a new location, within the Portello exhibition site in Milan, one of the Italian most prestigious venues for trade fairs and events. The new location has been chosen for its functionality and efficiency, to effectively meet the needs of both exhibitors and visitors.

Filo Capsule Collection is the flagship of the 63rd edition of Filo, an absolute innovation for the whole panorama of textile fairs. It is a collection of fabrics’ prototypes developed by Filo by using the yarns and the materials proposed by the exhibitors, drawing the inspirations from product development proposals, and carried out through the best techniques that manufacturing offers. The collection includes 60 fabrics, shown on 30 displays equipped with yarns and fabrics’ product data sheets: the collection is on show within the Filo Capsule Collection Area, a special section of the Exhibition dedicated to product’s R&D.

The Capsule Collection Area is the focal point of the 63rd edition of Filo, where the whole exhibition space ideally converges. Here is the Sustainability Area, reserved to the yarns and the materials made by using sustainable production processes carried out by the companies participating in FiloFlow. The Networking Area is located here, perfectly embedded in the Collages context – the theme chosen by Gianni Bologna (Filo Creativity and Style Manager) for the creative proposals of the 63rd edition of Filo.

In the new venue, the exhibition space has been organised to give the highest visibility to the products on show, through the rational position of companies’ booths. However, the 63rd edition brings some innovations, specifically designed to make the visit at the fair easier. At the entrance, buyers can see the proposals of the Quick Delivery Point (yarns which are immediately available) and the ones of the “Un Filo per la Maglia”. In the same Area it is visitors can experience the creative and qualitative value of all collections on show, exemplified in the tableaux with companies’ top products.

Through the 63rd edition, Filo wants to further enhance the quality of the exhibited materials. It does so by emphasising the stylistic content of the products, together with the technical one, reached thanks to manufacturing techniques that combine tradition and cutting-edge processes.

Filo Capsule Collection has been designed to be aligned with these very concepts and to enhance manufacturing techniques, whose value doesn’t change over time.
The opening ceremony, entitled ‘The Art of Manufacture – From Thread to Fabric, from Ideas to Production: how turning an Idea into Products’, is indeed a praise to manufacturing.

The 63rd edition of Filo hosts the delegation of foreign buyers organised in collaboration with ITA – Italian Trade Agency – with 34 textile-fashion professionals and journalists coming from France, the U.K., the USA, India, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Spain, South Korea and Belgium.

Internalisation is still the focus of the collaboration between Filo and Piedmont Region: thanks to the activities of the Integrated Textile Supply Chain Project (PIF) of Piedmont Region, funded by the Regional ERDF 2021-2027 and put into practice through Ceipiemonte – the Regional Agency for Internationalisation – a delegation of buyers from Denmark, Finland, Ireland and the U.K. participate in the 63rd edition of Filo. In addition, a top-level delegation from Tunisia, led by the Ambassador of Tunisia in Italy, is taking part in Filo to illustrate partnership’s opportunities between companies from Tunisia and Piedmont. In the context of the collaboration between Filo and Piedmont Region, after the visit to the Exhibition, a day of B2B meetings in Biella district is scheduled to enable buyers to deepen their knowledge of this textile district’s production excellence.

“Filo represents excellence in the international trade fair panorama, a point of reference for the textile sector and a showcase of the manufacturing capabilities that make Piedmont, Italy and therefore Made in Italy protagonists in the world. Strengthened by a Government that strongly believes in the potential of Italy’s manufacturing capacity, as a Region we continue to invest with conviction in the training and internationalization of companies, because competitiveness comes from quality, innovation and excellence of skills” declares the vice president of the Regione Piemonte, Elena Chiorino.

“Piedmont and Biella Area, well known for their history and great capabilities in the field of research, are ready to make their unique know-how available, pushing in the direction of sustainability that does not give up competitiveness and growth prospects. The presence of buyers from a great number of countries confirms the attractiveness of our production system and the importance of events such as Filo in consolidating commercial relations and creating new opportunities for our territory” concludes Chiorino.

Paolo Monfermoso, Responsible for Filo, declares: “First of all, in a difficult geopolitical and economic situation, I would like to thank the companies that renew their trust in Filo every edition. I would like to thank Piedmont Region and Ceipiemonte for their contribution in helping us working for increasingly making Filo a point of reference within the international trade fair panorama. Filo’s participation in the IT-EX Association, which aims at supporting exhibitions’ system as a tool for our country’s growth, indeed pursues the same goal. I am delighted that Raffaello Napoleone, the President of IT-EX, wanted to be with us while we are announcing our joining the association. I would like to extend a very special thank you on this occasion to ITA – Agency, not only for supporting us in welcoming buyers coming from the five continents, but also for having fully understood the aims of a project to which Filo Filo strongly believes in and has worked hard on: Filo Capsule Collection. ITA – Agency has sponsored the initiative, precisely because it acknowledged the project’s objective of enhancing the qualities of manufacturing, especially the Made in Italy one. The participation of Matteo Zoppas in the Opening Ceremony confirms and proves that common objectives are shared between us and ITA Agency’.

Mr. Monfermoso continues: “During the 63rd edition of Filo, buyers can find very high-quality products, with equally strong innovative contents and a great attention to the environmental and social traceability and sustainability, through FiloFlow project, which now involves most of the companies taking part in Filo. Traceability and sustainability are also discussed during the Dialoghi di Confronto, which are held during the two days of the Exhibition and which I invite you to follow, since there is always a lot to learn from colleagues’ experience. The continuous dialogue existing from ‘producer-to-producer’ is not just a slogan for Filo, but a daily business practice. I wish you all a great two-days of business!”
