LINIFICIO E CANAPIFICIO NAZIONALE AT THE CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III
Italian linen’s tradition meets royal English tradition: “Smeraldo” and “Brillante” linen yarns produced by Linificio e Canapificio Nazionale were chosen by John Spencer (Textile) Ltd. to weave the fabric of the Anointing Screen used during the coronation of King Charles III.
The Anointing Screen enabled to hide the most sacred moment of the coronations’ ceremony of King Charles III from the eyes of the world; namely, the anointing is historically considered the moment when God and the King join. The screen has been offered to Charles III by the City of London old and modern Corporation and City Livery Companies; in its central side, there is a tree with 56 leaves, one for each member of the Commonwealth, with the king’s cypher positioned at the base, while the design of the two minor sides is inspired by the floor of Westminster Abbey.
150-year history, innovation and quality are the common threads that made John Spencer (Textile) Ltd. and Linificio e Canapificio Nazionale coming together for such an important project. At the same time, sustainability of Linificio’s yarns meets the ecological commitment of the new King.
