SUSTAINABILITY IS ESSENTIAL TO FILO
The times when “sustainability” meant “flat” products in textiles, proposed as basic materials and colors in raw tones, are now very far away. Today, under the term “sustainability” we find solutions and materials that never give up quality, beauty and style. This was demonstrated at the 63rd edition of Filo by the Sustainability Area, with the collections of the companies that participate in FiloFlow project: a colorful Area full of ideas, which attracted the attention of visitors during the two days of the fair.
Much has changed in the approach to sustainability since Filo launched its FiloFlow project in 2019. The most significant change regards perhaps the one that has gone from taking into consideration the sustainability of the single product and the single manufacturing process to looking at the entire life cycle of the product, from the initial choice of raw materials to production and consumption, up to reuse and circularity. In this new conception, another concept has taken on crucial importance: traceability. Filo has given an account of all this from edition to edition through the stylistic evolution of FiloFlow yarns, but not only that. Sustainability and traceability now represent a sort of hypertext that runs throughout the entire Salone, from the stands of the exhibiting companies to the talks of the “Dialoghi di Confronto”, to the meetings between producers and buyers that prelude new collaborations and the development of innovative solutions. Because as for innovative and quality manufacturing, such as the one that Filo represents, sustainability and traceability are essential elements, a precondition for being a protagonist on the market.
