FILO65: “NEXUS” BEHIND THE SCENES
“Nexus,” the video featuring the textile themes proposed for Filo65, will be available online starting December 3, 2025. To better understand the inspiration behind Filo65’s product development proposals, we asked Rossano Bisio, Fabric Designer, who oversaw the development, a few questions.
Mr. Bisio, let’s start from the beginning: why the title “Nexus”?
“We chose the title ‘Nexus’ precisely because of the etymology of the word, which, in the case of Filo’s product development proposals, reflects the interweaving of threads that is the substrate of every fabric. On the other hand, the term ‘Nexus’ evokes the idea of connection that develops within the textile supply chain, from fiber to yarn, then to fabric and the finished garment, all the way to the product displayed in the store. The strength of our textile supply chain lies precisely in the continuous exchange of innovation, research, and quality that occurs between steps in the manufacturing process: it’s a concept Filo has insisted on since the beginning, and ‘Nexus’ is there to restate it.”
If this is the general concept, what are the contents of “Nexus”?
“We built “Nexus” around three main product development lines: Volumes, Geometries, and Alchemies. The first theme – “Volumes” – includes wool yarns: this time, they feature dense, matte, textured surfaces, designed to last and surprise with cozy details, suitable for both clothing and furnishings. “Geometries” instead offers light layering and dynamic yarns, designed to capture movement and chromatic transformations through contemporary weights and designs. Finally, “Alchemies” is the theme of innovation, hybrid fibers and yarns, with unexpected technologies and surprising finishes that will question the very function of textile materials.”
“Nexus” is the starting point for the new “Made in Filo” fabric collection that will be presented at Filo65. Can you give us a little preview about it?
“Of course, Filo65’s new “Made in Filo” collection will be based on the conceptual map designed by Nexus. We imagine a connection between past and future, between hand and machine, with perceptions that will come to life only when they are realized in fabrics. Because those that will enter the “Made in Filo” collection will not be simple surfaces: they will be sensory maps of tomorrow. For us, the process of creating and producing “Made in Filo” is a “creative continuum,” which on this occasion starts from “Nexus,” passes through the interpretation given by Filo exhibitors, and will not even end at the moment of weaving, because the future of fabrics will be built in the successive hands that will shape them, in the finishing tests and in dyeing and embroidery, until the hidden plot of “Nexus” is evoked, that is, the textile material is ready to become clothing, furnishings, or accessories. Ultimately, with “Nexus” begins a journey into the fashion of tomorrow, as professionals will discover on December 3, when the product development proposals of Filo65 will be revealed”.
