FILO62: THE DISCUSSION AT THE OPENING CEREMONY
The circular economy in textiles was the focus of the 62nd edition of Filo and the opening ceremony and the round table that followed were dedicated to the theme.
Circular economy is a highly topical issue and it is no coincidence that the Italian Minister of the Environment, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, referred to it in his video greeting to the participants at Filo. Paolo Monfermoso, responsible of Filo, illustrated the numbers and contents of the 62nd edition. While Matteo Masini (ICE-Agency) renewed for the future the Agency’s commitment to supporting Filo in its progressive internationalization process, confirmed by the presence at the fair of the delegation of foreign buyers organized in collaboration between Filo and the ICE Agency. Marco Bortolini, present at Filo as president of the Sezione Filature of Uib and now Vice President of Uib, focused on companies’ vision: “The prospects of the sector are weighed down by uncertainty and the slowdown of international markets, in particular China which is aiming to enhance domestic production. Manufacturing remains central as a driver of the economy and generator of widespread well-being. We demonstrated this when, a year ago, production was growing rapidly. Today our companies can count on the resilience that they have “trained” over the years, not only as a single sector but also from a supply chain perspective. In this sense, the Unione Industriale Biellese is alongside companies to support them on all priority issues, from training people with the right skills to be included in the company to the attractiveness of the companies themselves”.
