Fibres at Filo: TENCEL by Lenzing

Fibers are back as protagonists at the 57th edition of Filo. The choice arises from the consideration that effective sustainability and traceability of products can only be achieved from a supply chain perspective.
Lenzing, one of the world’s leading groups in the production of cellulosic fibers, responds perfectly to this concept.

In Austria, Lenzing plant is in a tourist environment, a few kilometers from the Attersee, the lake where Gustav Mahler and Gustav Klimt spent their holidays. Since the 70s the tourist environment and increasingly stringent regulations have led Lenzing to pay close attention to resources and emissions, imposing “sustainability strategies” in unsuspected times.

Today the focus is on “Lenzing biorefinery”, the extraction from wood (from PEFC™ and FSC® certified forests) of xylose (for sweeteners), acetic acid (for preserves/pickles), other chemical products and cellulose with which the viscose, modal and lyocell fibers of the ECOVERO™ and TENCEL™ brands are produced.

At Filo, Lenzing will focus on TENCEL™ with REFIBRA™ technology (recycling of post-industrial & consumer cotton waste), TENCEL™ Modal Indigo Color (solution dyed fiber for the Denim sector), TENCEL™ Eco Clean and carbon-zero TENCEL™ fibers.

“From forest to filament to forest”
TENCEL™ Luxe is a unique filament yarn, derived from wood grown in renewable, sustainably managed forests, created for the high-end fashion market. Registered with The Vegan Society, TENCEL™ Luxe offers with its luxurious touch a botanic, biodegradable alternative to silk.
Lenzing will show an important range of products that the spinners present at Filo offer in 100% or mixed with natural fibers, mechanically recycled fibers or technical fibers. These materials are in a large range of textile products for apparel and furniture, but they are also starting to be used in agriculture and packaging because they are “compostable”.

A Filo no. 57, Lenzing will also be the protagonist of one of the “Dialogo di Confronto” held in the Networking Area of Filo during the two days of the fair.

The “Dialogo di Confronto” (February 24, 2 p.m.) – “From forest to filament to forest – TENCEL™ Luxe, the endless filament lyocell yarn offering a truly botanical alternative to silk” – will be led by Susanne Carls – Product Management TENCEL™ Luxe, Lenzing AG.
The full programme of the 57th edition “Dialoghi di Confronto” can be found here.
