SPIN AKER: NETTLE FROM HIMALAYA

Continuous research, supported by commitment to the issue of sustainability, has reflected in an increase in the offer of yarns presented by Spin Aker and made from recycled and/or sustainable raw materials.

The interest in the study of new raw materials has led Spin Aker to include in its new collection, among other fibers, the Himalayan nettle, renewable natural resource that grow wild in Nepalese forests, where it’s hand harvested by the indigenous population. It is a sustainable fibre in many aspects. Among the goals of SDG (Sustainable Development Goals), Spin Aker focuses in particular on the eighth: decent work and economic growth by supplying cash income to indigenous subsistence farmers who live in rural villages in the Himalayas. This raw material is proposed by Spin Aker in yarns that enhance its different facets, both its rustic and sporty characteristics, and the more delicate and elegant ones, thanks to blends with other sustainable and natural materials.
