Today, the 47th edition of Filo, the yarns and fibres’ exhibition, is opening in Milan. The exhibition is held at Palazzo delle Stelline (Corso Magenta 61). During the first day, Filo is open from 9 am to 6 pm, while during the second one, it will be open from 9 am to 5 pm. Paolo Monfermoso, Filo general manager, states that “With the 47th edition, Filo confirms its role as leading fair at the international level for weaving yarns aimed to the top-of-the-range products. Filo does it showing collections of high qualitative and stylistic value, able to meet needs and expectations of extremely qualified visiting buyers, both from Italy and abroad.

Even though the absolute protagonists of the 47th edition of Filo are obviously the yarns proposed by the exhibiting companies, events and initiatives scheduled during the two days of exhibition are particularly interesting. Paolo Monfermoso adds that “Filo represents a platform whose first goal is to ensure the matching of supply and demand for high-quality yarns. To do that, we have selected some fundamental issues that we consider crucial for the growth and the evolution of the Italian textile and apparel industry, such as internalisation, research, innovation and education. As far as internationalisation is concerned, we realize all our initiatives in cooperation with the Italian Trade Agency: it is a choice that allows us to summon to Filo buyers with a high-professional profile, who are concretely interested in the yarns of our exhibitors. As far as innovation is concerned, it is a subject very dear to us and it is the reason why we have reserved an area within Filo to PoinTex, Textile Innovation Cluster, to present research and innovation projects that have been already implemented, but also to allow PoinTex technicians to catch the real needs of textile companies. ‘Innovating’ is a very complex process and concept, which starts from the education of professionals for the textile-apparel industry and involves the whole chain. This will be exactly the theme to discuss during the conference of inauguration of the 47th edition of Filo, that we have organised in cooperation with ITA Agency and Sistema Moda Italia”.
