Today, the 57th edition of Filo, the International Exhibition of Yarns and Fibres, has
\nclosed positively registering great results.
\nThe premises for an edition rich in creativity were already clear starting from the
\nentrance built for the 57th edition of Filo, through the installation carried out by
\nCittadellarte \u2013 Fondazione Pistoletto, representing a suspended Third Paradise coming
\nalive by involving the visitor.
\nYoung people, education, and sustainability were at the centre of the 57th edition of
\nFilo: Filo, the International Exhibition of Yarns and Fibres, which represents the first
\nstep in textile and apparel supply chain \u2013 is then shifting its gaze towards the future of
\nthis manufacturing industry which is fundamental for the economy and the life of the
\ncountry.
\nPaolo Monfermoso, Responsible for Filo, said that: \u2018The 57th edition of Filo has closed
\npositively. In relation to this success, I would like to thank all exhibitors, who had
\ncontinued to believe in Filo also during difficult times. I also want to thank the buyers
\nwho crowded into the booths: a concrete sign of the intention of this industry to return
\nto a growth path. This result also derives from the collaboration with ITA-Agency in
\norganising the visits arriving from France, the UK, Belgium, Holland, Chile, Peru, South
\nAfrica, Romania, Mexico, Angola, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia. The round table \u2018We believe in
\nyoung people\u2019, which officially opened the 57th edition, stirred up a lot of curiosity. I
\npersonally believe that during the debates we have managed to deal with education in a
\ndeep way, giving the floor to the protagonists, young entrepreneurs, and managers. Filo
\nhas always worked with a view to a supply chain system, that\u2019s why I really appreciated
\nthe presence of Alessandro Barberis Canonico, President of Milano Unica, Massimo
\nMosiello, General Director of MU, and Gianfranco Di Natale, General Director of Sistema
\nModa Italia at the inauguration ceremony of this edition. I want to thank them for their
\nconstant interest and friendship with Filo.
\nIn addition, the interesting and concrete intervention by Elena Chiorino, Piedmont
\nRegion\u2019s Councillor for Education, Employment and Vocational Training proved the
\ninterest of the Region for the issues linked to manufacture and textile industry
\nespecially\u2019.
\n\u2018During the fair, we have gone through two intense days, rich in inspiration and debate.
\nOur Trend Areas \u2013 from the general one to \u2018Un figlio per la maglia\u2019, to the Sustainabiliy
\nArea with FiloFlow \u2013 represented the focus for buyers\u2019 visits, while \u2018Dialoghi di
\nConfronto\u2019 dealt with essential issues for this industry, as for example the centrality of
\nfibres, the recycle of raw materials, and sustainability\u2019.
\nThe protagonist of the first \u2018Dialoghi di Confronto\u2019 was Tomaso Trussardi. Together
\nwith the journalist Elisabetta Invernici, he went through his long carrier \u2013 despite his
\nyoung age \u2013 as entrepreneurs, pondering over sustainability: \u2018The sustainability is
\nsomething I really care for \u2013 he said. In the natural altering of things, the companies
\nbelonging to this industry are really committed in reducing their impact on the
\nenvironment. However, it is clear that this commitment should consider the economic
\nfactor: the products with sustainability and circular elements have a cost, that should
\nreflect on the final price. Unfortunately, today, very often the final consumer is not
\nready to pay a premium price and the companies must deal with real market. And we
\nalso must take into account that the problem today is not polluting less, but the waste:
\nwe should find a way to make production processes, but also end products – being
\ncircular. And in the meantime, raising the awareness of final consumer in relation to this
\ntheme\u2019.
\n\u2018We believe in young people\u2019 for Filo also means leaving space for the institutes working
\nfor their education, as ITS-TAM in Biella, which brought to Filo \u201cIl mare sulla pelle\u201d, a
\ncapsule collection totally carried out by the students.
\nIn conclusion, Paolo Monfermoso highlighted that: \u2018Today the 57th edition of Filo has
\nclosed, but there is room for exchange and confrontation among exhibitors and buyers
\nthrough the virtual space of \u201ce-Filo: 365 Days of Yarns\u201d, our marketplace. It is a digital
\nplatform, fast and easy to use, through simple and immediate key research. For the
\nphysically held fair, we wait for you in September, for the 58th
\n edition of Filo.
