During the round table for the inauguration of its 51st edition, Filo \u2013 the International yarns and fibres Exhibition \u2013 announced the launch of the \u201cSustainability Project in Yarns\u201d.
\nSustainability is the main theme of the 51st Filo edition, that opened this morning (the 27th of February 2019) at the Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan. The exhibition closes tomorrow, the 28th of February. The inauguration of the show was therefore the ideal setting for launching the Project, which is based on the involvement \u2013 on a voluntary basis \u2013 of the companies exhibiting at Filo.
\nAs Paolo Monfermoso, general manager of Filo, highlighted: \u201cSustainability is an issue on which Filo has been focused for several years, but in this occasion, we wanted to make real our involvement in relation to a challenge crucial for textile-apparel industry. Naturally, for the companies working upstream of the production supply chain, sustainability is a sustainability of the production process and it touches all the steps of the production\u201d.
\nSpecifically, companies exhibiting at Filo will be presented with a form, which will highlight their adherence to \u201csustainable practices\u201d along the various stages of the production process. Based on the responses of exhibiting companies, starting from the 52nd edition of Filo next September, the \u201cSustainability Area of Filo\u201d will be set up, a space dedicated to products obtained from sustainable processes, reporting in addition environmental and social certifications obtained by companies.
\nThe \u201cSustainability Project\u201d of Filo is designed to highlight the interconnections of a verticalized textile supply chain.
\n\u201cThe \u201cSustainability Project in Yarns\u201d promoted by Filo fully meets the double meaning of sustainability to which manufacturing companies orient their behaviours \u2013 as Pier Francesco Corcione, CEO of Assoservizi Biella-Filo, said \u2013 On one hand, the search for sustainable production processes is part of the corporate social responsibility, where companies are increasingly focused on environmental, ethical and social issues.
