Why The 53rd Edition Of Filo Was Canceled

Why the 53rd edition of Filo was canceled

As it has been already communicated, the 53rd Filo edition, planned for Thursday 27 and Friday 28 February 2020 at MiCo in Milan, has been canceled. The decision was taken due to the emergency caused by the spread of Covid-19 virus and, in particular, following the order from Lombardy Region issued on Sunday the 23rd of February 2020.

The order from Lombardy Region provided indeed for “the suspension of events or initiatives of any kind, of events and of any form of meetings in public or private places” until the 1st of March (extendable) and therefore it made impossible, as a matter of fact, for the Exhibition to take place.

Paolo Monfermoso, general manager of Filo, stated that: “The regulations issued by the Authorities didn’t provide any alternatives: we had inevitably to adapt and cancel the 53rd edition of Filo. We did it with real regret, thinking about the hard work carried out by all of us, especially by exhibitors. We are aware of the problems that the cancellation of the 53rd edition of Filo poses for exhibiting companies and visitors. On the other hand, this was the only available option. Moreover, by being Filo a biannual fair and considering the short time between the presentation of collections and the beginning of the production, it has not been possible to consider the hypothesis to move the 53rd edition of Filo to other dates.

We were all prepared to face this new adventure, exhibitors were enthusiastic and they supported us from the first day in the decision to change the venue of Filo. There was curiosity, there were innovations that we hope to propose for the 54th edition, scheduled to be held on the 6th and the 7th of October. We tried to cope with this problem in the best possible way and that spurs us, already now, to face the next edition proactively.”
