The roadshow of Filo is to announce two big changes in the 53rd edition

Today the roadshow for the presentation of the 53rd edition of Filo, the Exhibition of Yarns and Fibres for orthogonal and circular knit weaving and for technical fabrics, starts in Biella.
The Biella meeting takes place at 10.30 a.m. at Sala Valetto of Unione Industriale Biellese (Via Torino 56). The roadshow will continue tomorrow on the 10th of December 2019 in Milan, at 10.30 a.m., at the headquarter of Confindustria Moda (via Alberto Riva Villasanta 3). The Filo roadshow will end on the 12th of December 2019 in Prato, at the Chamber of Commerce of Prato (via del Romito 71) at 2.30 p.m.
The roadshow held in December 2019 is particularly important. It is indeed the first occasion to exèlain in details the two important innovations related to the 53rd edition: the relocation of the exhibition’s venue to MiCo – Milan Convention Centre, and the new dates, on Thursday and on Friday (on the 27th and the 28th of February 2020 respectively), instead of the traditional Wednesday and Thursday.
Paolo Monfermoso, general manager of Filo, explains: “In recent years, Filo has grown in the number of both exhibitors and visitors. Something of great satisfaction for the work we have done, but in the meantime something that put us in front of a difficult choice: Palazzo delle Stelline hadn’t the necessary space for ensuring to exhibitors and visitors all those services which distinguish a fair like Filo. Therefore, we have decided to leave the historical venue of Filo to move to MiCo – Milan Convention Centre, where a wider exhibiting space is available, which we will use to improve various areas that hadn’t been developed in the way we wanted exactly because of lack of space. Thanks to the functionality of the exhibiting spaces of the new venue, we are willing to re-think about the Trend Area, in order to increasingly enhance exhibitors’ proposals, widen the welcoming area and create new working and relaxing areas for visitors.”
Mr. Monfermoso adds: “For the edition held in February 2020, Filo has also decided to shift from the traditional Wednesday-Thursday to Thursday-Friday. The positioning on the eve of the weekend helps to give more calm to visitors. The innovation has been appreciated by exhibitors and we believe that visitors too could appreciate it, exactly because it is in line with the B2B identity of Filo.”
Mr. Monfermoso ends by stating: “Of course, along these important changes, the essential features of Filo won’t change: being a B2B fair, oriented to efficacy and concreteness and founded on excellence and sustainability of companies and exhibited products. As well as our cooperation with ITA-Agency, Sistema Moda Italia and Milano Unica won’t change, by sharing the goal of strengthening Italia textile supply chain.”
The roadshow for the presentation of the 53rd Filo edition is then dedicated to the explanation of product development proposals carried out by Gianni Bologna, manager for creativity and style of Filo, entitled “Wunderkammer”.
According to Gianni Bologna, ‘Wunderkammer is significative metaphor of current world’. It is indeed a ‘scientific’ catalogue, an ‘aesthetic’ (and chaotic) summation, the show of beauty and ugly things, and certainly a journey. On the other hand, the consumer is increasingly oriented towards products which ensure transparency about the composition of fabrics, places and conditions of the production of the garment.
The goal is then enabling the consumer to move away from the growing uniformity of global fashion mainstream, from the boredom generated by the shop windows full of things which are perfectly standard and identical worldwide’.
The 53rd edition of Filo will be held on Thursday the 27th and on Friday the 28th of February 2020 at MiCo – Milano Convention Centre (via Gattamelata 5, Milan).
