The 60th edition of Filo opens today
PRESS RELEASE
The 60th edition of Filo, the International Yarn and Fibre Exhibition, opens today at the Allianz MiCo – Milan (via Gattamelata 5). The fair will end tomorrow, on September the 21st, 2023.
During the first day, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the second one, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors and the press can discover high quality yarns, fibres, materials, finishing processes, and production intended for top-of-the-range products.
The “good, healthy, clean, fair, and durable” textile – in short, the “high-quality” one – represents the fil rouge of the 60th edition of Filo. Seen from a supply chain perspective, it is a concept that summarizes and fully reflects the values of Filo, as well as the commitment of the companies taking part in it.
Filo celebrates its sixty editions – and its thirty years of activities – by enlarging the exhibition area, also due to the increase in exhibitors’ number, and by reorganising itself, enhancing the focus on exhibited products, both for a more structured arrangement of companies’ booths, and also for the increasingly evocative setting up of the Area dedicated to “Dialoghi Creativi” – which also includes the “Quick Delivery” and “Un Filo per la maglia” – and of the Sustainability Area, with green yarns and materials of the companies participating in FiloFlow. Both these areas are expressing the creativity and quality values of companies’ proposals, perfectly integrated within a design inspired by “Alchemies” proposed by Gianni Bologna (responsible for Filo creativity and style).
Over the many editions, Filo has grown as an international fair, thanks to the constant increase in the number of foreign exhibitors and visitors. For its 60th edition, the Exhibition is welcoming a delegation of foreign buyers organised in collaboration with ITA Agency Roma: it comprises textile professionals coming from France, the U.K., Belgium, China, Turkey, Palestine, South Korea, Chile, South Africa, and India.
The collaboration between Filo and the Piedmont Region also continues. Thanks to the activity of the Progetto Integrato di Filiera (PIF) “Tessile”, created by Ceipiemonte – the regional agency for internationalization – on behalf of the Piedmont Region, as part of the Piano di Sviluppo e Coesione 2000-2020, there is at Filo a delegation of 14 buyers, coming from Poland, Denmark, Czech Republic, UK, Belgium and Portugal. At the end of the visit to the fair – again in the context of the collaboration between Filo and the Piedmont Region – a study tour of the delegation in the Biella area is also planned, which will allow buyers to deepen their knowledge of the production excellence of the Biella textile district.
Paolo Monfermoso, responsible for Filo, states: “Today, Filo is achieving an important milestone: sixty editions. Reaching this goal has been possible thanks to the companies which had trusted us over the years, thanks to the quality of their products that allow us to play a key role within the international fair-trade context. The enthusiasm shown by the companies which support us should be met by making our activities even more concrete and efficient, in order to make Filo a working platform for carrying out productive and high-quality business. To sum up, a platform where to carry out a ‘good job’, recalling the title that we chose for the opening ceremony.”
Monfermoso also adds: “For long time, we have always been hearing that sustainability is an essential challenge for textile industry. We have taken up this challenge for years through FiloFlow project, which proves to be increasingly successful. For the opening ceremony of the 60th edition, we decided to talk about sustainability in a wide sense, referring to a “good, healthy, clean, fair, and durable textile”. And for this reason, we are going to host important guests, as Dario Casalini, the founder of Slow Fiber, and Barbara Nappini, the president of Slow Food Italy. By sharing with Filo’s audience their experiences and their visions, they will be able to give a wider and stronger meaning to the words: sustainability, traceability, and supply chain. Our best wishes of good work to all of you!”
