The road-show for the presentation of the 50th Filo edition ended today in Prato. The meetings – with stops in Biella and Milan, before reaching Prato – were a success, with a participation of exhibitors, industry’s professionals and journalists higher than expected.
On the other hand, so much attention is not surprising, not only because Filo has been able to gain over the years a specific role in the international trade show scene but also because on the 26th and 27th of September 2018 Filo will celebrate its “50 times” and its 25 years of life. It will therefore be a ‘in the name of gold’ edition, to celebrate the exhibition that has been able to renew itself while maintaining its business-to-business character and its guiding principle: the high quality of the yarns on show and of the companies that produce them.
During the presentations, Paolo Monfermoso, manager of Filo, has announced some news, as well as reiterating the “supply chain collaborations” with Smi, ITA Agency and Milano Unica: «From 1993 to the present day, thanks to our work – and especially thanks to the work of the exhibiting companies – Filo has come a long way. In the September’s edition we will celebrate our story, sharing it with exhibitors, visitors and the press. But we will do it with an eye to the future, trying to take up the challenges and the opportunities that arise for our industry – as Monfermoso has explained – Just looking at the present as well as at the future, the most important news for Filo is the choice to be present on the most popular social networks: from today Filo can be followed on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. It is a choice that has as main goal to intensify the dialogue with the protagonists of the fair – exhibitors and visitors – as well as to enhance the visibility of Filo on foreign markets».
As for the data on the 50th edition, Monfermoso has stated: «We are very satisfied with the progress of Filo; for the September edition, there is an increase in the number of exhibitors and we are creating the conditions for a parallel growth in the visitors’ number. As for foreign buyers, we continue to cooperate with ITA Agency to define the delegations from foreign countries more and more in line with the productions shown at Filo. Also the partnerships with Sistema Moda Italia and Milano Unica are confirmed and widened. As far as Milano Unica is concerned, Filo will be present at the edition of 10 12 July, with an installation in the Trend Area of Milano Unica, where we will show trends and yarns exhibited at our February’s edition. As always, all these initiatives are in line with our main target: to offering the companies that participate in Filo real opportunities of business and working tools to strengthen their development and growth».
A large part of the meetings in Biella, Milan and Prato in view of the 50th edition Filo has been dedicated to the presentation of the product development proposals elaborated by Gianni Bologna, responsible for creativity and style of Filo. The title itself gives an important indication: “Routes”.
Gianni Bologna has explained: «To celebrate this historic 50th edition Filo we have chosen to dedicate the proposals to that concept of harmony and beauty that is becoming increasingly difficult and complex to deal with. The latest market analyses and trends encourage us to reflect on another point that few seem to fit in the right dimensions: the increasingly large part of the market represented by the consumption of the “not so young” segment. The ‘senior’ consumers have higher incomes than young and very young segments (almost totally oriented to goods ready for immediate use and low price goods); in addition, senior consumers have experience about products with higher aesthetic and quality contents. Let’s then start by looking for new inspirations along three itineraries that now belong to the myth: “spice route, “silk route” and “Route 66”, to recreate a current vision of beauty on the basis of beauties and unique splendours’.
The 50th edition of Filo will be held on the 26th and 27th of September 2018 at Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan.
