The 48th edition of Filo opens today

The 48th edition of Filo, the fibres and yarns’ exhibition, opens today, September 27, 2017, in Milan. The exhibition is held at Palazzo delle Stelline (corso Magenta 61) and will close tomorrow, September 28, 2017. Opening time on the first day is from 9 am to 6 pm, while on the second day is from 9 am to 5 pm.

Paolo Monfermoso, responsible for Filo, presents the 48th edition, stating that: «As usual, the 48th edition of Filo brings forward the excellence of weaving’s yarns for top-of-the-range products. The general optimism, which had been felt during the last editions of Filo, seems to be confirmed in this autumn date too. The exhibitors’ number is increasing – more than 90 companies, both Italian and foreign – and the visitors’ number is expected to increase, too, at least judging by buyers’ pre-registrations. With its 48th edition, Filo wants to make a further step forward by opening its doors to a selected group of dyeing companies and service companies for the textile industry. We do that following the idea of supply chain, in order to offer to operators a wider vision of the production chain and a concrete range of textile solutions which can be obtained starting from the excellent yarns offered by our exhibitors.»

Mr. Monfermoso continues saying that: «The theme of the supply chain is strictly linked to the underlying issue of this Filo edition: sustainability. This is a key factor for those companies focusing on products’ excellence to cope with the competition. It is not by chance that Filo’s exhibitors already propose sustainable yarns. However, we want to face the issue as a main one for the whole textile chain, also to guarantee end-consumers’ health. That is why we have dedicated the inauguration conference, organised in cooperation with ITA-Agency and Sistema Moda Italia, to the ‘Thread of sustainable chains’. The debate will allow us to know which are the problems to face in order to get a real sustainability in the textile-apparel industry. In addition, it will bring to a comparison on what has been done by other industries linked to the fashion system. On the other hand, the conference is a further proof of the fundamental cooperation existing among Filo, ITA-Agency and Sistema Moda Italia, renewed in every edition with very satisfactory results for our exhibitors, promoting activities which aim especially at strengthening Italian chain of textile and apparel industry.»

Monfermoso concludes by reminding two meetings during the first day of Filo: «We are really proud that two long-time friends of Filo have chosen our 48th edition to celebrate paramount moments of their own activity. In the morning of the 27th of September, C.L.A.S.S, the international platform, which supports and endorses responsible products for fashion, home and design, discuss examples of circular economy together with the firms that are both its partner and exhibitors at Filo: Marchi&Fildi, Roica by Asahi Kasei and Filatura C4. In the afternoon of the same day, during the FiloHappening, the weekly La Spola celebrates with exhibitors and visitors of Filo its 20th anniversary of service to textile’s operators.»

As far as style’s matters are concerned, for this edition, the Trends Area of Filo is inspired by ‘Planet Earth’, in line with the exhibition’s theme: sustainability. As explains Gianni Bologna, responsible for creativity and style of Filo, «with high respect for those who have been developing for a long time the issues of naturalness, sustainability and eco-compatibility within and outside the textile industry, we are not focusing here on eco or bio materials, because we have never joined the chorus of those who too often turn such important topics into simple marketing tools. For the 48th Filo edition, we are rather inspired by the undeniable poetry evoked by this blue planet which is both origin and part of our DNA. And we do that as an invitation to a positivity’s gesture.»
