The 44th edition of Filo, the exhibition of yarns and fibres, was opened today, 30 September 2015, at the Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan, to end tomorrow, 1 October 2015.
“Filo is the only business to business fair dedicated to the product high-end” underlines Paolo Monfermoso, manager of the event, “ this is the distinctive feature on which it has built its success in its over twenty years of existence. Since its first edition, Filo has been proposing top quality yarn collections, the excellence of Italian and European production. A further strength is given by the fair formula: flexibility and focus on two days of hard work, based on concrete experience, professionalism and effectiveness. This mix is highly appreciated by exhibitors and international buyers, as confirmed by the constant participation of both exhibiting companies and visitors”. Adds Monfermoso: “Quality is a watchword at Filo, not only in the collections on display but also for visitors. Since the very beginning Filo has followed a philosophy, which is now gaining popularity in many other textile events: being attentive and focusing on the quality of the buyers who attend the fair, is the way to offer our exhibitors real business opportunities rather than focusing on mere numerical targets. For this reason, in addition to listening to the exhibitors’ requirements, we closely collaborate with Ice-Agency for the selection of the International delegation invited to every Filo edition, and precisely because it is closer to know the situation in foreign markets, the Ice-Agency helps us selecting the buyers and countries that may offer major opportunities for development to Italian and European yarns.
It is in this same spirit that between 13 and 15 October we will be in China at the first Filo Shanghai edition, in collaboration with Milano Unica: on the one side, the aim is to make spinning, a fundamental sector of the made in Italy textile industry, known by Asian buyers. On the other side, we will offer the seven companies which face up this new challenge with us, an opportunity to approach markets usually difficult to reach by individual businesses”.
But being successful in markets also depends on the capacity to propose excellent and innovative yarns: the 44th Filo edition showcases them in an exhibiting space that pays homage to Leonardo da Vinci and in the Trend Area, whose inspiring theme is “Think future”, building on the definition that Leonardo would have given to this concept. “The apparent contradiction of present/future – affirms Gianni Bologna, Filo creativity and style manager – is the key to interpret our creativity”. Therefore, the companies should aim at re-inventing yarns and materials, and at strengthening technicality also in the so-called “classic” sectors, which remain the spearhead of the Italian textile industry.
To point out their successful collaboration, Filo and Ice-Agency, together with the Italian Fashion System, have organized the meeting “Il filo della conoscenza” to be held at the Palazzo delle Stelline today September 30, 2015, at 2.30 p.m., to present the study “Comparative analysis between Europe and the United States of the eco-toxicological standards in textile, clothing, leather/leather goods, and footwear sectors”. This study was carried out by the Associazione Tessile e Salute, commissioned by Ice Agency under the extraordinary promotional programme of Made in Italy promoted by the Ministry of Economic Development. Introduction by Marinella Loddo (Milan Ice Agency) with the participation of Mauro Rossetti (Associazione Tessile e Salute), Gianpaolo Bruno (Rome Ice Agency) and Maria Ines Aronadio (Rome Ice Agency).
To conclude this first work day, Filo invited exhibitors, buyers and press to FiloHappening (at 5 p.m. in the FiloLounge). Speeches: Marilena Bolli (President of Unione Industriale Biellese), Silvio Albini (outgoing President of Milano Unica), Claudio Marenzi (President of SMI) and Roberto Luongo (Rome Ice Agency).
