Not only politics and diplomacy, but also business: the Italian President of Council’s visit to Iran (11th-13th of April) gave the opportunity to sign many trade agreements concerning a number of sectors, including textile and fashion.
The State visit to Iran has indeed suited also the purposes of a business mission promoted by both the Italian Ministry for Economic Development and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. And within this scope, the president of Sistema Moda Italia, Claudio Marenzi, signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Teheran Garmet Union (Tgu), the most important organisation within Iranian textile and apparel industry which gathers more than 20 thousand companies.
The agreement will allow Italian companies to obtain directly from Tgu the licence to operate in Iran, making easier the fulfilment of required obligations. The general goal of the Memorandum is to develop internationalisation’s process of companies which operate within the two countries fashion textile industry, to increase their import and export and strengthen industrial cooperation and know how’s sharing within the specific fashion textile sector.
