Green light to the 52nd edition of Filo
The 52nd edition of Filo, the international yarns and fibres’ Exhibition, opens today at Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan (Corso Magenta 61). The fair will close tomorrow, on the 26th of September 2019. Filo is opened from 9am to 6pm during the first day and from 9am to 5 pm during the second one.
Filo exhibitors present very high-quality yarns, which are intended for the top-of-the-range products and which are produced by companies whose imperative is research and innovation.
Paolo Monfermoso, general manager of Filo, states: «The 52nd Filo edition is focused on sustainability, a crucial issue for the future of the textile industry and one which Filo – and the participating companies – have been focused on for several years. The theme runs throughout the whole Exhibition, starting from the Trend Area, where the exhibiting companies that joined FiloFlow, the sustainability project we launched last edition, will be immediately recognisable. During the two days of fairs, there will be discuss thoroughly about sustainability: first of all, during the workshop held on the first day of Filo, which is entitled “Sustainability: a virtuous process”. On that occasion, we will show the results of the first stage of FiloFlow. It is a project to trace the supply chain, which aims to highlight and enhance the sustainable production processes and products made by Filo’s exhibitors. The exhibiting companies have fully understood the FiloFlow goals and have joined it with great conviction. Sustainability will also be discussed in the second day round table – “Smart Yarns: spinning sustainable solutions for the fashion of tomorrow”. There we will look at the issue from the point of view of the apparel producers, to understand their needs and requests to companies upstream of the supply chain.»
Monfermoso continues: «The supply chain approach followed for FiloFlow has always distinguished Filo actions; it is the constant through which we have faced the different themes of the textile-apparel industry. It is not a coincidence that during the past years, Filo has broadened the collaborations that contributed to its growth, both in terms of number of exhibitors and visitors and in terms of its increasing role in the international textile scene. I refer first of all to the collaborations with ITA-Agency, Sistema Moda Italia and Milano Unica and now with Acimit too, which have given and continue to give excellent results, as it is shown for example by the growing interest about Filo’s presence in the Trend Area of Milano Unica. And this is clearly demonstrated by the delegation of foreign buyers present at each edition of Filo thanks to the agreement with ITA-Agency. The delegation visiting the 52nd edition of Filo is made up of buyers from France, Great Britain, Lithuania, Netherlands, Portugal, Turkey, the US: as usual, they have been identified and invited by interpreting the market needs of the exhibiting companies. We are therefore confident that we have laid the foundations for a 52nd edition of Filo that responds, as usual, to the needs and expectations both of exhibitors and visitors.»
For the 52nd edition of Filo, product development proposals carried out by Gianni Bologna, manager of Filo for creativity and style of the Exhibition, are inspired by “Metamorphosis”. Gianni Bologna explains: «Metamorphosis seem to represent the maximum possible degree of harmony and we have chosen it as the title in order to highlight the idea of permeation and interaction and symbiosis between human and non-human presences of this planet. Many different textile materials are involved, and their combinations aim at creating “moving” or crinkly surfaces where even warp patterns are preferably in union with presence of elastomers or elements that anyway can somehow slightly ‘distort’ the recurring regular pace of the design and the structure of thread and fabric.»
