Filo launches the 49th edition in Biella, Milan and Prato

Today, on December the 11th, the road-show for the presentation of the 49th edition of Filo, the yarns and fibres’ exhibition, has started.

The first meeting is held in Biella (at 10.30 am – Valetto Room – Unione Industriale Biellese – Via Torino 56). The road-show will continue tomorrow, on December the 12th, in Milan (at 10.30 – Solari Room – Palazzo delle Stelline – corso Magenta 61). Then in Prato, on Thursday the 14th (at 2.30 pm – Conference Room – Prato’s Chamber of Commerce – via del Romito 71).

The road-show for the presentation of Filo is an eagerly awaited event since it represents an unavoidable opportunity for a direct meeting between companies and organisers in the most important Italian textile districts. At the core of the meetings, there is the presentation of product’s development proposals: it represents – for both exhibitors and textile professionals in general – a concrete source of inspiration for yarns’ collections that will be exhibited during the 49th Filo edition in February.

Paolo Monfermoso, responsible for Filo, states that: ‘With the road-show of December, the dialogue between Filo and the companies starts again from the fixed points reached during the past editions. First of all, the high quality of the proposal of yarns intended for the high range, which is the essential basis for the constant growth of the exhibition, in terms of both exhibitors’ number and the participation of increasingly qualified visitors. The excellent performance of Filo is supported also by the formula of the fair: B2B which endorses concreteness and efficacy, where the objective is always the encounter of excellent yarns’ offer and demand of companies among the most qualified and interesting ones of the sector. Across the years, Filo has created important relationships: with the Italian Trade Agency for everything related to foreign markets, including the support in selecting and organising the delegation of foreign buyers which at every edition visit the fair. On the contrary, the cooperation with Sistema Moda Italia refers to the internal market and the strengthening of Italia textile-apparel supply chain, whose Filo represents one of the first steps. In this context and by analysing the data, which are still partial, of the reservation of exhibiting spaces, we can look with optimism at the 49th edition of Filo, scheduled at Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan on the 21st and 22nd of February 2018’.

Great part of the meetings in Biella, Milan and Prato for the presentation of the 49th edition of Filo is reserved to the presentation of the products’ development proposals carried out by Gianni Bologna, responsible for exhibition’s creativity and style.

The macro-trend identified for the 49th edition of Filo is ‘Tastes on sale’ and the inspiration comes from the street styles because, as Gianni Bologna states ‘nothing better than what we see every day in the streets represents what is set upstream and that is possibly re-elaborated by the creators’. And if street style cannot convey, by definition, ‘an idea of ‘beauty’ corresponding to the codes accepted by the majority of people, it is instead evident in its new role:  the one representing a visible part of the ‘iceberg’ of self-reference, disarticulation (of taste) and fragmentation (of market)’. In this context, which is the space of high end products? Bologna answers saying that ‘A fundamental point for all supply chain’s sections: focusing on their own specialities, tuning the presentation and bringing to the products the adaptations according to clients’ need. Defining the borders of a space that is totally owned and where one is considered a reference point’.

The date with the 49th Filo edition is seton the 21st and 22nd of February 2018 at Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan.
