From the 16th to the 26th of September 2016, Milan becomes the stage for the stories of the world-class supply chains that make Italian products unique. During the Fashion Week, creativity and expertise of the Italian manufacture will be shown to the world through seven spectacular installations in different streets and squares of the city. Each of them will be dedicated to one of the main sectors of Made in Italy: fabrics, textiles, jewellery, cosmetics, accessories, eyewear, glasses, leather goods will raise the public’s awareness about the creativity and know-how of Italian manufacturing, while celebrating the fashion industry through the womenswear (and in some cases, of menswear) runway shows.
The event ‘Milan XL – a celebration of Italian creativity’, under the artistic direction of Davide Rampello, is promoted by Confindustria and Altagamma Foundation together with the Italian Trade Agency, under an agreement between Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development and the Municipality of Milan. “Confindustria and the other partners involved have enthusiastically backed this project, which promotes Italy’s world-class production chains in industries that are key to our economy. This is a significant example of how we can better represent our industries at an international level and protect Italian products.” – explained Licia Mattioli, vice-president of Confindustria for internationalisation.
The seven installations will liven up the streets and squares of Milan until the 26th of September 2017. On the following day – the 27th of September – the 48th edition of Filo will start at Palazzo delle Stelline and a new season for textile-apparel industry will begin. The timing indeed reflects an ideal “passing of the torch” from the last to the first step along the supply-chain and it represents the confirmation that fashion – and the whole industry behind it – never stops.
