A rule to protect manufacture’s excellence and the right of European consumers to know what they buy through the introduction of mandatory origin’s labels have been discussed for long time, without reaching a definitive result at European levels. Assocalzaturifici has then decided to concretely show to European institutions what is a ‘high quality production’ and did it through the show Italian Shoes, European Footprint, launched at the headquarter of European Parliament in Brussels.
The Italian Shoes, European Footprint show recalls the history of Italian shoes across different historical stages and highlights a type of production that is characterized by an high ability in innovation, great craftsmanship and fashion content. During the show’s inauguration speech, the president of Assocalzaturifici, Annamaria Pilotti, affirmed that “Manufacture’s industry is the pillar of EU economy and that Italian shoes’ manufacture represents an excellence within this industry. Protecting its pipeline, especially the one based on the SMEs must be the priority for the EU”.
