FiloFlow & C.L.A.S.S: sustainability from A to Z

PRESS REEASE
FiloFlow and C.L.A.S.S. together for sustainability: it’s one of the most exciting news of the 59th edition of Filo.

Filo and C.L.A.S.S. have always shared the commitment to a tangible sustainability of products and processes of the textile industry. The Yarn Show realizes this through the FiloFlow project, while the international eco-hub founded by Giusy Bettoni demonstrates its commitment through services that support companies in their journey towards responsible innovation.

With this shared commitment, and a collaboration that has lasted for years in different forms, Filo and C.L.A.S.S. are making available to the companies that will join the 59th edition of the Yarn Show a new service dedicated to information and guidance in the field of sustainability.

Within the FiloFlow Area, C.L.A.S.S. will curate the “Sustainability from A to Z” desk, designed to provide companies with an orientation about sustainability matter in textiles: from certifications to environmental impact and end-of-life measurements, the importance of ethics and the energy savings; from responsible innovation to new generation communication… without forgetting sustainability reports.

Paolo Monfermoso, responsible of Filo, states: “With C.L.A.S.S., we have started a closer collaboration based on the sharing of values that are essential for the textile industry. The “Sustainability from A to Z” service, available to all the companies at Filo – exhibitors and visitors -, is the result of a synergy between our different competencies, with a shared goal: sustainability. We are confident that the service will be of great help to textile companies looking for even greater sustainability in their products and processes”.

Giusy Bettoni, CEO of C.L.A.S.S., adds: “The “Sustainability from A to Z” service we are proposing together with Filo wants to be a concrete help for companies in search of real sustainability. Making “greener” products through sustainable processes, besides being an ethical commitment, it can reveal itself as a winning tool to gain a real competitive advantage in the market. Above all, companies must communicate the authentic sustainability of their products: this is the tool to add value to a fashion capable of real responsible innovation and to fight against the “greenwashing” phenomena. That’s why at C.L.A.S.S., together with Filo, we are making our expertise and experience available to companies”.

The appointment for the 59th edition of Filo is on February 22nd and 23rd, 2023 at Allianz MiCo – Milan.

Filo at Milano Unica with FiloFlow

PRESS RELEASE
Filo is at Milano Unica (RhoFiera – Milan) from January 31 to February 2, 2023. On show the yarns from FiloFlow project, in a space within “MU Superpower” area.
The synergy between Filo and Milano Unica goes on successfully, aiming at enhancing and strengthening the excellence of the textile industry, thanks to a shared and synergic vision, through the identification of issues that the two textile Exhibitions address from a supply-chain view. The connection between the two Exhibitions is shown especially in relation to sustainability: that is why for some editions, Filo has chosen to propose at Milano Unica just those yarns produced by the companies participating in FiloFlow, its sustainability’s project.
Paolo Monfermoso, responsible for Filo, states that: “Filo has been participating in Milano Unica for many years, reaching great results in terms of operators’ appreciation and Exhibition’s visibility. The aim of our participation in MU is strengthening a synergy built on two main elements: the commitment to sustainability – whose expression for Filo is FiloFlow – and the supply-chain continuity between the two Exhibitions, with Filo’s exhibitors that are increasingly providing materials to produce fabrics and accessorises proposed at Milano Unica”.
We wait for you at Rho-Fiera Milan, within the area reserved to Filo at Milano Unica from January 31 to February 2, 2023!

Filo no 59: “Imaginary Geographies” are online

COMUNICATO STAMPA

Starting from today, “Imaginary geographies” – the video with the creative proposals of the 59th edition of Filo is available online on Filo’s website (www.filo.it).

The proposals for “Dialoghi Creativi” of the 59th edition of Filo, carried out by Gianni Bologna (responsible for Filo’s creativity and style) are released through an evocative video entitled “Imaginary geographies” where the main theme is developed along three textile interpretations: ‘Other Lands’, ‘Other Seas’, ‘Other Skies’.

For some editions, Filo has been publishing its “Dialoghi Creativi” exclusively online. This choice is not made randomly, since on one hand it aims at highlighting the unique characteristics of Filo’s creative proposals focused on product and process. On the other hand, online release aims at using the main characteristic of digital channels, which means the possibility to use a content without limits given by time and space, to reach then a wide audience both in Italy and abroad.

Paolo Monfermoso, responsible for Filo, says: “Filo has paved the way for a new idea of what we were used to call trends. And it had started to work in this direction since the beginning, always highlighting the importance of dialogue between exhibitors and style’s proposals developed by the fair.
Filo is distinguished by a stylistic continuum evolving over time. It is characterised by inspirations deriving from a careful reflection on current textile industry and from a complex vision of what the sector will face in the future. These inspirations are proposed to companies, so that they can became the subject of dialogue and collaboration, first in designing their collections and then with their clients, i.e. Filo’s visitors.”

Paolo Monfermoso also adds that: “Thanks to this approach, the “Dialoghi Creativi” – with the inspirations for the next edition – represent one of the most awaited and appreciated appointment, not only by Filo’s exhibitors, but in general by all the professionals working in the textile and apparel industry.
For this reason, we have decided to make them available to the audience through digital channels, ensuring the widest outreach, overcoming distances and borders, being free from time bonds: indeed, each professional working in the textile industry can freely choose when to watch our “Dialoghi Creativi”, studying them and being inspired by them at any time, simply entering Filo’s website.”

Gianni Bologna, responsible for Filo’s creativity and style, explains the contents of Imaginary Geographies: “In a context where the re-enchantment with nature develops in parallel with the re-enchantment of human being and consumers’ ego, it is appropriate to talk about ‘imagination’. This is a wide theme which leaves space for thousands of possible creative facets. We have tried to develop some examples without separating them from beauty, considering that it is an essential and consubstantial characteristic linked of textile world and taste. We have explored them through three textile themes: ‘Other Lands’, ‘Other Seas’, ‘Other Skies’.”

The 59th edition of Filo will be held on February 22 and 23, 2023 at Allianz MiCo in Milan.

The 58th edition of Filo closed with positive results

PRESS RELEASE

The 58th edition of Filo, the International Yarns and Fibres’ Exhibition, closed today registering great results.
Among the stands, the work has been intense during the two days, resulting from a constant flow of visitors and buyers. Foreign buyers came back to the fair, and this represented a very important element, exceeding numbers registered in 2019.

The 58th edition focused on the two main issues, sustainability and creativity. These are two essential and interconnected concepts – the two sides of the same coin – as it was highlighted during the opening ceremony, which was indeed dedicated to “Sustainability and creativity: from new textile to new fashion”. The two stylists, Massimo Crivelli and Martino Midali, who were the guests of the ceremony, talked to Filo’s audience about their vision of fashion, the importance of the constant relation with fabrics and materials’ producers in a creative dialogue along the supply chain – which is now fundamental more than ever for conveying new ideas. It indeed brings innovation and considers sustainability as the result of a continuous research.

Paolo Monfermoso, responsible for Filo, states: “The 58th edition of Filo closes with positive results. I would like to thank for this great result the exhibitors who, as always, brought to the fair very high-quality collections. But I also want to thank buyers, that once again proved to be competent and concrete interlocutors for our exhibitors”.
Mr. Monfermoso adds: “Filo is increasingly becoming a platform for business, for exchanging ideas and projects, collaborations arising and growing in our booths and in our spaces. Behind all this, there is the Area dedicated to “Dialoghi Creativi” – also including “Un Filo per la Maglia” – on one hand, and the Sustainability Area with FiloFlow on the other: they have been both designed for being a guidance and a forward-looking inspiration, but concrete enough to meet companies’ needs.
On the other hand, through “Dialoghi di Confronto”, we want to develop discussion on key issues within textile industry, such as sustainability, innovation, and the fundamental role of fibres in carrying out new products. Particularly in this edition, great interest resulted from the research on the opportunities and the challenges of textile market in the U.K., carried out by Piedmont Region and Ceipiemonte in the scope of Progetto Integrato di Filiera (PIF) ‘Tessile’ promoted by Piedmont Region and funded thanks to POR-FESR Piemonte 2014-2020 funds, that has been presented during one of the most popular “Dialoghi di Confronto”.
Confirming Filo’s international vocation, the collaboration between the Exhibition, the Piedmont Region and the Regional Agency for internationalization Ceipiemonte also made it possible to organize, again within the Project, the incoming of a delegation of 14 incoming buyers from the United Kingdom and Spain, who during the visit were able to appreciate the high quality of the collections exhibited at Filo. 36 foreign buyers arrived to the fair thanks to the great and long cooperation with Agenzia ICE, coming from 13 different countries: France, Portugal, Ireland, the U.K., Hungary, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia, Jordan, Palestine, South Africa, Vietnam, India. Of course, we must add also many Italian and foreign buyers who reached Filo independently”.

Mr. Monfermoso concludes: “Designing textile’s future also means protecting its cultural heritage. Therefore, Filo decided to host the exhibition, curated by Elisabetta Invernici, “Estetica ’70: il genio di Brunetta dialoga con Franco”: the reach foundations laid down in the past can be a great source of inspiration for the future. The two days of the 58th edition of Filo were intense, full of meetings, professional exchanges and stylistic hints and stimuli for debate. Next Filo edition is scheduled to be held in February, with the 59th edition of Filo”.

The 59th edition of Filo will take place in February 2023, on the 22nd and the 23rd at Allianz MiCo – Milan.

The 58th edition of Filo opens today

Today the 58th Filo edition – the International Yarns and Fibres’ Exhibition – opens at Allianz MiCo – Milan Convention Centre (via Gattamelata 5). The fair will end tomorrow, on September 15, 2022. To enter the fair it is necessary to have an entrance badge.
Today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.at Filo you can find yarns, fibres, materials, finishing processes and high-quality production, intended for top-of-the-range products and carried out by companies focused on sustainability, research and innovation as their main goal.

Yarns, fibres, and materials are displayed in a way designed to highlight rationality and clarity, leading ideally towards the Area dedicated to “Dialoghi Creativi”, the ‘creative hearth’ of the Exhibition, where to find samples of exhibitors’ collections. The general inspiration of the “Dialoghi Creativi” Area follows the “Languages” proposed by Gianni Bologna (Responsible for Filo’s creativity and style). Focusing on the product and on its possible developments, the inspirations of the “Dialoghi Creativi” of Filo have a unique connotation in the textile fair-trade scene. At this edition, “Un Filo per la Maglia” is back. The Sustainability Area is totally dedicated to “green” proposals carried out by the exhibitors, which gives space for and importance to FiloFlow, the sustainability’s project of Filo.

The Networking Area, the space designed for fostering the encounter and the dialogue among exhibitors taking part in Filo, hosts the opening ceremony and all the “Dialoghi di Confronto”.

There is an exceptional show to welcome visitors of the 58th edition of Filo: ‘Estetica ‘70. The genius of Brunetta dialogues with Franco’s creativity’. It tells about an especially promising moment for fashion industry, and it shows five unique pieces by Francesco Fracchiolla, aka Franco, with some original sketches and releases by Brunetta Moretti Mateldi, internationally known simply as “Brunetta”. The show is curated by Elisabetta Invernici, journalist and costume historian.

Increasingly an international fair, Filo is observing the number of foreign exhibitors growing from edition to edition, as well as the one of foreign buyers. This result is achieved also thanks to the long and efficient collaboration with ICE Agenzia – the Italian Trade and Investment Agency – Agency. The delegation organised by ICE Agenzia for the 58th edition of Filo is made up of 36 buyers coming from 13 countries: France, Portugal, Ireland, UK, Hungary, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia, Jordan, Palestine, South Africa, Vietnam, India. An other international delegation is arriving with 14 buyers from the United Kingdom and Spain: it is the result of the collaboration among Filo, the Piedmont Region and the regional agency for internationalization Ceipiemonte as part of the activities of the Progetto Integrato di Filiera (PIF) “Tessile” promoted by the Piedmont Region and financed thanks to POR-FESR Piedmont 2014-2020 funds: an educational tour in the Biella area is also planned for these operators in order to deepen their knowledge of the production excellence of the prestigious textile district among the most renowned and appreciated in the world. Furthermore, on the second day of the fair, the Piedmont Region and Ceipiemonte present a research – specifically carried out as part of the Project – on the opportunities and challenges of the UK textile market.

Paolo Monfermoso, responsible for Filo, states: “Today we open the 58th Filo edition. As always, I would like to thank those exhibitors – both Italian and foreign ones – who have confirmed their confidence in Filo for this edition too, and they have brought to the fair collections characterised by excellent value, for their quality and innovation. We are particularly satisfied to welcome two delegations of foreign buyers, that has been made possible thanks to the collaboration existing with ICE Agenzia and with Regione Piemonte- Ceipiemonte. Filo, for its nature, is certainly proposing a vision on the future of our industry. Therefore, we have decided to dedicate the opening ceremony of the 58th edition of Filo to ‘Sustainability and creativity: from new textile to new fashion’. Sustainability represents an issue on which Filo has been committed for long time through FiloFlow project; it also represents a challenge in which textile industry cannot remain uninvolved. However, it should be matched with creativity and ability to produce beautiful and ‘well-made’ garments, from all perspectives, as it is proven by the work of our exhibitors.”

Filo no. 58: “Sustainability and creativity: from new textiles to new fashion”

PRESS RELEASE

The opening ceremony of the 58th edition of Filo on “Sustainability and creativity: from new textiles to new fashion” takes place

Wednesday – September 14, 2022 at 10.30

Allianz MiCo-Milano, Filo Networking Area

“Sustainability and creativity: from new textiles to new fashion”: the title encompasses various issues, on which Filo has been committed for some time: first of all, sustainability but also a new vision of the textile-fashion system, which has at its core manufacturing and a supply chain capable of building a true and productive dialogue among the different steps. This enhances the intrinsic value of a centuries-old textile tradition, to be combined, however, with the most innovative research and attention to sustainability.

After the speeches by Paolo Monfermoso (Responsible of Filo), Pier Francesco Corcione (President of ITS-TAM Biella) and Elena Chiorino (Councilor for Education, Work, Vocational Training, Right to University Study of the Piedmont Region), the ceremony continues with the round table moderated by the journalist Elisabetta Invernici. The debate involves stylists from different generations, who will propose their visions of fashion to the public, also in the light of the technical developments obtained from research on materials and the necessary ever closer collaboration with textile manufacturers.

Paolo Monfermoso, Responsible of Filo, explains: “Filo’s commitment to sustainability has been consolidated and recognized for some time. Our commitment is not limited to promoting the dutiful compliance with environmental and labor protection standards, but extends to creativity, to the new style that comes from innovative textile solutions, proposed by companies that are always at the forefront of quality and research, such as those exhibiting at Filo. If today’s textile-fashion is expressed in different “Languages”, the goal remains the same as always: the “well done”, the result of creativity and passion for one’s work. To that, the exhibitors of Filo and the guests of the inauguration ceremony are witnesses of the highest level.”

The 58th edition of Filo takes place on the 14th and 15th of September 2022 at Allianz MiCo – Milano (via Gattamelata 5).

Area per area ecco la 58a edizione di Filo

PRESS RELEASE

Filo displays a strongly efficient layout of exhibition’s areas. Everything converges on the Area of “Dialoghi Creativi”, gathering the “highlights” of exhibitors’ products.
The Area of “Dialoghi Creativi” represents the “business card” through which each edition of Filo shows itself to the visitors: the Area is characterised by a particularly evocative setting up and it extends its dimensions in order to propose a wider range of products made by the exhibitors, so that buyers have the opportunity to plan their visit in the best possible way, by immediately detecting the exhibitors who mainly meet their needs.
Starting from this edition, the Area comprises the Quick Delivery Section, but also the one dedicated to “Un Filo per la maglia”, since knitting proposals are increasingly an integral part of companies’ collections. The general inspiration of the “Dialoghi Creativi” Area is based on the “Linguages” proposed by Gianni Bologna (Filo’s creativity and style manager). By focusing on the product and its possible developments, the inspirations of Filo’s “Dialoghi Creativi” have a unique connotation in the panorama of textile fairs.
Totally dedicated to the “green” proposals of exhibiting companies is the Sustainability Area, which gives space and prominence to Filo’s sustainability project, FiloFlow, which most of the exhibitors have now joined. To highlight its peculiarity, the Sustainability Area remains independent: it gains space and visibility, in parallel with the greater awareness on this theme shown by all operators.

Filo’s Networking Area represents a space where to foster encounter and dialogue among the professionals participating in the 58th edition of Filo.
Next to the Area dedicated to “Dialoghi Creativi”, the Networking Area of Filo hosts the opening ceremony of the 58th edition of Filo. The Networking Area also stages the “Dialoghi di Confronto”, the short talks held by some of this industry’s protagonists during the two days of fairs, designed to address highly topical subjects for textile industry.

The 58th edition of Filo takes place on September 14 and 15 at Allianz MiCo – Milan (via Gattamelata 5).
