Dialoghi di confronto

The connection between color and matter is complex and, in textiles in particular, the two elements influence each other. It is an interaction that underlines the ability of matter to express itself by playing with brightness, with refraction, with colors, in search of captivating visual stimuli. At the 62nd edition of Filo, during the Dialoghi di Confronto, this complex and multifaceted relationship was discussed and analyzed in the talk entitled “Color in relation to materials” by Ornella Bignami (Art director Elementi Moda), Bibi Ronchi (Creative Director Chiron) and Sabine Le Chatelier Saunier (Textile Expert Consultant Alliance for European Flax-Linen & Hemp).

Transparency of supply chains and management of traceability of sustainability information has become a crucial challenge for the textile industry, which engages companies with complex management issues to monitor and document the entire chain of custody of raw materials, ensuring that each stage of production respects environmental and social standards. An agile solution was presented by Limonta Informatica at the “Dialoghi di Confronto” of the 62nd edition of Filo, in the talk entitled “The digital product passport and the chain of custody to support companies in the transition towards sustainability”.

In an edition of Filo that had “teamwork” as its leitmotif, it appeared particularly appropriate the presentation of the collaboration between two companies of excellence, explained in details during the talk of the Dialoghi di Confronto entitled “Authentico® by Schneider Group & Marzotto Group: an Italian partnership for an innovative, global, totally traceable and transparent wool supply chain”. The goal of the collaboration is clear: to guarantee a complete and transparent, ethical and high-quality supply chain for wool fabrics, in which stylistic and qualitative research is combined in the respect of responsible production and innovation models.

During the 61st edition of Filo, “Sustainability from A to Z” – the information service for companies created in collaboration by CLASS and Filo – took the form of a real showcase on responsible innovation. Cellulosic fibers are increasingly used in multiple applications: underwear, denim, shirts, sheets are the main sectors of use, but carpets and furnishing fabrics are also rediscovering cellulosic fibres. And in some cases, they are even a response to the request for plastic free packaging. Carlo Covini – Business Development Lenzing AG explained the great versatility of cellulosic fibers in a talk of the “Dialogues di Confronto” of the 61st edition of Filo.

Hemp for textile use has an ancient tradition in Italy, but cultivation and use were abandoned for a long period. The fiber is now back in fashion thanks to initiatives such as that of Prototipo Studio, which promotes and coordinates an experimental spinning process of 100% Italian hemp. Carlo Mazzoni, director of Lampoon Magazine and partner of Prototipo Studio, explained in detail the objectives of the project as part of the Dialogues of Comparison of the 61st edition of Filo.

In an ever-evolving textile industry, the issue of training new creative, competent and innovative talents is becoming increasingly urgent. The Accademia del Colore was born from this need, promoted by Finissaggio and Tintoria Ferraris and presented as a preview at the 61st edition of Filo by Francesco Ferraris, in the “Dialoghi di Confronto” talk in which he was the protagonist. The Accademia del Colore has already taken its first concrete steps and is promoted by Finissaggio and Tintoria Ferraris in collaboration with Randstad. It involves a first phase of direct training in collaboration with Accademia Piemonte for textiles, clothing, fashion and green jobs, of which Città Studi di Biella is the lead agency.

Color is a fundamental aspect not only in production processes, but also in its broader meaning, as an enigmatic and symbolic element that has influenced rituals, memory and human emotions over the centuries. Human, artistic and cultural reactions to colors are also reflected in the technological and scientific development of the textile sector. All this was discussed in the talk “By thread and by art: the philosophy of color between circularity and innovation”, led by Olga Pirazzi, head of the sustainable fashion office of Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto; guests of the debate: Maria Canella, director of Accademia Unidee; Massimo Caiazzo, president of Iacc Italia; and Lia Luzzatto, professor at Accademia di comunicazione and Accademia del lusso in Milan.
